思い出せない（３） thingamajig 前編
２回にわたって「何て言うんだっけ，あれだよあれ」という不思議な単語 whatchamacallit について書きました。
これはその名前を冠したお菓子 Whatchamacallit。

In 1978, a gem was born- the Whatchamcallit candy bar. Whether a chocolate lover or not, everyone has their favorite candy bar. Mine happens to be the Whatchamacallit. With peanut flavor crisp and caramel (added in 1987) all enrobed in chocolate… what’s NOT to like about it?! It has been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember- except when I took a brief hiatus to eat frozen Skor Bars that I hid in the freezer of my neighborhood Walgreen’s- I’ll save that story for another time.

Recently, I stumbled into my local NYC Walgreen’s only to notice a LIMITED EDITION THINGAMAJIG candy bar. How could I NOT buy it? The bar was a variation of the Whatchamcallit, but with cocoa crisp instead of peanut crisp, and peanut butter instead of caramel. I have to admit, while it was good to try the variation the Whatchamcallit is still my #1.
最近，地元のニューヨーク市のウォルグリーン商店に偶然立ち寄り，限定版 THINGAMAJIG キャンディ・バーに気づいてしまった。買わないわけある？ そのバーは Whatachamacallit が変化したもので，ピーナッツの代わりにココアの生地，キャラメルの代わりにピーナッツバターを使っていた。その亜種を試すのは悪くはないけど，私は認めざるを得ない，Whatchamacallit は今でも私のナンバーワンだと。

「thing amazing」ではなかったのですね。ハーシーズのチョコバーが出たのでそうかな、って思ってしまいました（笑）。
ちなみに、ハーシーズのチョコバーは釣りに行く時の行動食としてよく使っていました。青い色のパッケージのやつです。あれは何という名前だったっけなあ…
おはようございます。
ハーシーズの青パッケージということはミント系ですかね。チョコは外国に行くと知らないものが一般的だったりします。アメリカの m&m は有名ですが，カナダに行ったときに見つけたチョコバー「Oh! Henry」には驚きました。作家の名前！？ オーストラリアでは圧倒的に TimTam なんだとこれも驚き。でも，なんか外国のお菓子って日本人にはちょっと違うんですよね。逆に外国の人が日本のチョコを食べたらどう思うんでしょう。
